customer and company shape design and development Often, shapes or profiles are presented for quotation, which are functional for the end-user but introduces extreme difficulties for the extruder. In these instances a close liaison is desirable to enable the end-user and the extruder to negotiate changes to difficult extrusion parameters while still fulfilling the functional requirements of the end-user. Deeco Metals have skilled technical advisors who can assist in eliminating or minimizing potential problems. Following are two case histories, which have resulted in the trouble free supply of product, and in both instances a significant cost reduction to the end user. Case Study #1 The original architectural concept called for cast bronze decorative columns. Through negotiation with the Architect and Fabricator, the Technical Sales personnel from Deeco Metals were able to demonstrate that considerable savings could be achieved by replacing the cast bronze column with extruded shapes without loss of any aesthetic appeal or function. This saved material costs and reduced the fabrication costs substantially.
Case Study #2 The following two shapes were submitted for quotation and found to be difficult for extrusion purposes. A meeting was arranged with the fabricator to find out the function of the matching shapes, from which the Technical Sales personnel were able to suggest alternative methods of achieving the desired function and external appearance. This compromise worked to the mutual satisfaction of both the extruder and end-user, once again at reduced costs.
